‘The First Christmas’ poem
The First Christmas
By Vickram Bachan
The Light came into the world.
Born into a stable made of wood and nails.
The dwelling of farm animals,
A manger filled with hay for a bed;
The humble home of God on earth.
His birth means the salvation of all humanity.
He lay silent and sleeping, curled up in the manger,
In this barn for a home. The King of kings had come.
A night of silence and peace,
The star shining from the Heavens above,
Guiding the way of the three wise men.
Heaven’s King, who could have made a majestic
and regal entrance surrounded by an army of angels,
Came as an infant, a newborn baby.
To live life was His choice,
To show us how it should be done.
He is the only definition of perfect.
A Light that no darkness can ever extinguish,
here to save us all.
We sing gloria and hallelujah,
For out saviour has arrived.
The greatest gift of all,
The gift of everlasting love and peace.
He is welcomed into every home,
Celebrating His birth each and every year,
And it all began with that first Christmas.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:6
“And of his kingdom there shall be no end.” - Luke 1:32
