A Thankful Heart - new Thanksgiving poem!

 A Thankful Heart

by Vickram Bachan

As Golden-red leaves drift through the air,

dinner tables are set with precision and care.

The crisp, calm autumn wind carries the scent of food,

Delectable dishes that puts everyone in a good mood.

The scent of caramel, pecans and pumpkin pie,

of roasted potatoes, turkeys, cinnamon and chai,

Draws all kindred from near and far away,

To share a feast on this grateful day.

With hands held tight and voices low,

We give thanks for the seeds we sow.

For love that lingers strong and kind,

and the peace we strive each day to find.

Grace is said, a quiet, thankful prayer,

The bird is carved and the stuffing savoured.

Appreciation for food and loved ones too,

Thankful for moments both old and new.

We honour those who came before,

Their stories told behind each home’s door.

We lift our glasses in cheers and joy,

Celebrating all we have to enjoy.

No candlelight can match the glow of smiles,

or illuminate the empty dishes in piles.

Laughter echoes through the rooms and walls

with hearts and stomachs full, both big and small.

So here's to bounty, hearth and grace,

many blessings to each smiling face.

On this Thanksgiving, may we see

the beauty in every family tree.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🍗🦃🍽️🥧🥂🥘🥔🍠🎃🤤😋🍂🍁🇨🇦
