Special Anniversary poem! "Memories of a Childhood Era Past"

This year my old elementary school celebrated its 125th Anniversary. To help mark the special occasion, and to celebrate and commemorate this event I wrote this poem! I put a lot of time and effort into it, and I worked a long time on it to make sure it was perfect; I hope you will enjoy it. Happy 125th Birthday CV, and congratulations on this incredible milestone! May 2014 be the beginning of another 125+ amazing years to come!

Memories of a Childhood Era Past
By: Vickram Bachan
(Carleton Village: Class of 2008)

Carleton Village is a hundred and twenty-five,
It’s incredible that the spirit of the school is still alive

It seems like yesterday when we all met,
But the time flew by with the speed of a jet

CV was awesome and I can remember it all,
When school ended in the summer and started every fall

Kids were always sleeping-in and being late for class,
Going to the washroom and needing a hall pass

Who could forget this school and its amazing staff?
I will always remember all the good times and laughs

I remember the bonds we made and said would last forever,
I even remember my rusty old locker; and the people that were clever

Being in the gym, the library, the classrooms; and cafeteria for lunch,
Eating and laughing together as we all munched

The awarding of the house cup at the end of each year,
And Future Ace certificates handed out to applause and cheers

Generations of students being challenged to learn,
Everyone passing with the high marks they earned

Lessons were taught by teachers with passion and drive,
Together the students all learnt and thrived

Yes, lessons were shared both on the chalkboard and paper,
Now we recollect old times, and what we’ve experienced years later

Teachers loved each and every one of us,
Even those that sometimes made a fuss

Terry, Frank, and Fungus, always kept the school clean,
They were sometimes stern, but they were never mean

The bonds we’ve made can never be broken,
They shall forever be cherished, though words may never be spoken

Old students and teachers reunite and reflect on memories shared,
The knowledge we gained, and knowing that you cared

Now that we’ve gone off into the world on our own,
We return, so you may see how much we’ve grown

You helped prepare us for where we are today,
We are so grateful and thankful, mere words cannot say

We are the Carleton Village family and we’re eternally bound by friendship,
We share a special bond and nothing could ever break our fellowship

This is a special event where old friends meet again, and see that everyone’s fine,
The next time we all get together will be for the sesquicentennial in the year 2039

In 2014 Carleton Village celebrates one hundred and twenty-five,
I’ll see you all when we hit two-hundred, and the Cardinal’s spirit continues to stay alive

This school will be here for many more generations to come,
It’s a place to learn, have fun, and it’s here for all, not just some

So will ever CV die? I think the answer is “Never”
Carleton Village then, now, forever!
